Aerogel price per kg and per gram
Aerogel blankets are sold by area, not weight. At a typical density of 150–220 kg/m³, a 10 mm blanket weighs 1.5–2.2 kg/m², which works out to roughly ₹1,100–2,100 per kg (₹1.1–2.1 per gram). Aerogel powder (WAP20) is priced per kg on request.
What is silica aerogel?
Silica aerogel is a solid made of amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO₂) that is up to 99.8% air — the lightest solid known, nicknamed "frozen smoke". In insulation it is reinforced into flexible fibre blankets so it can be cut, wrapped and installed like any other insulation, while insulating about 2–2.5× better than mineral wool or glass wool.
